About The Position

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centers mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. Same Day Surgery at University Hospital Pavilion (UH P) is a six–operating room unit within the Perioperative Services department at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. It supports a wide range of specialties, including orthopedics (hand and total joints), general surgery, urology, ENT, and gynecology. The UH P team is committed to exceptional patient care, with a strong focus on teamwork, communication, and collaboration. Known for its efficiency, the unit continually works to improve patient flow and outcomes.

Requirements

  • 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
  • Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
  • Maintains current Ohio RN license.
  • Meets mandatory educational and health requirements.
  • Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.
