About The Position

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute’s (OSUCCC-James) mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in their own plan of care, and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. The James Operating Room delivers high-acuity surgical care in a fast-paced environment. Nurses play a vital role by preparing the OR, assisting during procedures with strict adherence to sterile technique, and advocating for patient safety throughout the perioperative process. The unit is grounded in clinical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
  • Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
  • Maintains current Ohio RN license.
  • Meets mandatory educational and health requirements.
  • Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.
