About The Position

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. The OSU postpartum unit features 49 private rooms designed to support a truly family‑centered experience, encouraging birth parents and infants to remain together throughout their stay. Our nursing team partners closely with OB physicians, nurse midwives, pediatric providers, social workers, case managers, and lactation consultants, and collaborates daily with UCAs and PCAs to deliver coordinated, compassionate, and comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program
  • Current Ohio license or interim permit
  • Maintains current Ohio RN license
  • Meets mandatory educational and health requirements
  • Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience in relevant care setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family
