The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others. The role involves delivering patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care and through the application of the nursing process. This includes assessing and evaluating patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills, integrating assessment and intervention skills, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The nurse will prioritize patient care, educate patients and caregivers, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team. The position also involves managing assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrating cost-effective resource allocation. A key aspect of the role is enhancing the patient experience by role-modeling Relationship Centered Care principles, considering patient values and preferences, establishing therapeutic relationships, and initiating service recovery. The nurse will practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, implement process improvement strategies, engage in peer review, and collaborate on quality improvement projects. Operational duties include performing charge nurse duties, coordinating with management on supply and staffing needs, and documenting accurately. Professional development is emphasized through contributing to a supportive environment, advancing clinical competence, projecting a professional image, incorporating ethical principles, and engaging in lifelong learning. The nurse will also serve as a role model and preceptor, contribute to the profession through participation in professional organizations, and articulate the values of research and evidence-based practice.
