About The Position

1X is building humanoid robots designed to perform household tasks, giving people their time back. This requires solving complex challenges in robotics, AI, and manufacturing simultaneously, at scale, and in a safe form factor for home environments. The company is at a stage where significant technical hurdles have been overcome, and the focus is now on scaling production and delivery. NEO is their flagship home robot, designed for real-world operation alongside people, and the company is actively shipping it. They are seeking individuals inspired by this mission who want to contribute to a product that will genuinely change how humans spend their time by creating abundance safely. The Talent team at 1X is responsible for building the organization that will develop and produce these humanoid robots. They partner with leaders across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Corporate functions to attract exceptional talent capable of tackling difficult technical and operational challenges. The Talent team's role is critical for scaling 1X, as every hire influences culture, technical standards, and mission acceleration. The team operates with urgency, high standards, and strong partnerships to ensure the right people are in the right roles at the right time. The Staff Manufacturing Recruiter will be a senior talent partner focused on scaling the manufacturing organization for NEO's production. This role involves partnering directly with executive leaders, managing critical hiring initiatives, and contributing to talent strategy across manufacturing, automation, test, software, and hardware functions. Beyond individual hiring success, the role includes raising recruiting standards, mentoring teammates, and building a world-class talent organization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading full-cycle recruiting in highly technical, manufacturing, engineering, or complex operational environments.
  • Proven success hiring across multiple technical domains including manufacturing, automation, software, hardware, test, or related engineering functions.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior leaders, directors, and executives on hiring strategy and workforce planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with high ownership, sound judgment, and strong execution.
  • Track record of mentoring, coaching, or influencing other recruiters and recruiting teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting robotics, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or other hardware-intensive industries.
  • Experience scaling organizations through periods of rapid growth and operational expansion.
  • Expertise recruiting manufacturing leadership, technical program management, automation, controls, test, and production engineering talent.
  • Experience designing recruiting processes, interview frameworks, organizational hiring plans, or talent programs.
  • Familiarity with workforce planning, organizational design, and long-term talent strategy initiatives.

  • Deliver exceptional hiring outcomes across manufacturing engineering, automation, test, software, hardware, and production-related technical functions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership by shaping hiring strategies, talent priorities, and workforce planning decisions.
  • Build and maintain high-quality talent pipelines across critical manufacturing and technical disciplines that support rapid organizational scaling.
  • Improve recruiting effectiveness through process design, talent market intelligence, interview calibration, and hiring best practices.
  • Elevate overall Talent team capability through mentorship, coaching, and sharing of recruiting expertise across the organization.
