About The Position

Moog is seeking a Staff Manager, Electrical Design Engineering for its Space Sector's Actuation and Avionics Business Unit. This role involves leading a multi-functional team of approximately 20 engineers, including Electrical, EEE Component, FPGA, and Packaging design engineers, who work on NASA, military, and commercial space applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering team growth, providing personal development for direct reports, assigning and monitoring programs and projects, championing continuous improvement in design processes, coordinating with design leadership, maintaining key performance indicators, offering expert technical guidance, and ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary tools and technology. The position is based onsite in Buffalo, NY, and reports to the Staff Design Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of technical experience, designing and developing circuit cards, electronic enclosures, or working with FPGAs
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
  • Proven track record managing and leading engineering teams to success
  • Self-motivated, with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Proficient communication skills, both in writing technical documentation and in public speaking presentations
  • Ability to work onsite in Elma, NY (remote candidates will not be considered)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a dynamic team of ~20 engineers, fostering growth and collaboration
  • Provide personal development for direct reports by conducting performance reviews, training, mentoring, and monitoring career development
  • Assign programs and projects to direct reports in a timely manner and monitor these tasks so they are completed within technical, cost, and schedule constraints
  • Champion continuous improvement in the design and development processes
  • Coordinate with design leadership to align project goals and share best practices across teams
  • Maintain key performance indicators and metrics
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to your team
  • Select and equip your team with the best tools and technology to excel
  • Foster design reviews, validating adherence to internal standards
