About The Position

The Staff Geologist supports geological research and field activities by assisting with the collection, analysis, and reporting of geological data. Working under the guidance of senior staff, this role helps conduct field investigations, laboratory testing, and environmental studies to support organizational and project goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships or academic fieldwork preferred).
• Basic knowledge of geology, chemistry, physics, biology, and mathematics.
• Willingness to travel to field sites and work in outdoor environments.
• Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Fundamentals of Geology (FG) certification required, working toward Professional Geologist (PG) if applicable by state.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current 8-hour refresher (if applicable).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, field logging software, and GIS tools preferred.
• Working knowledge of environmental regulations, remediation strategies, and site investigation techniques.
• Experience leading field crews and completing Phase I/II ESAs, soil/groundwater sampling, and data interpretation.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare regulatory reports and coordinate with subcontractors and clients.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in field investigations, sample collection, and data recording.
• Conduct basic laboratory tests on rocks, minerals, fossils, and related materials.
• Support the preparation of maps, figures, and technical reports.
• Follow established research methods and data collection procedures.
• Ensure work complies with safety, ethical, and environmental regulations.
• Stay informed on fundamental geological concepts and practices.
• Provide field and office support to senior geologists on active projects
• Other duties as assigned.
