About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Staff Geologist to join their mining service delivery team in Salt Lake City, UT. This position involves both field and office work, with an expected 25-40% of time spent in the field. The role offers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth within a supportive team environment. As part of the Resilience Environment team, the Staff Geologist will contribute to improving quality of life by working with Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on environmental assessment, design, and remediation projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)
4+ years of experience in geology, geochemistry, or engineering field
Valid driver's license
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated
Independent thinking
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely
Adaptable, creative problem solvers who can work collaboratively as a team member

Nice To Haves

Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
MSHA 24-hour New Miner training
Experience in geochemistry or chemical engineering with a focus on metals and radionuclides
Experience in an environmental analytical laboratory

Responsibilities

Assisting Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
Overseeing fieldwork including drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys.
Conducting fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.
Planning and implementing site investigations, field studies, remediation programs, and mine-related process evaluations in collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.
Coordinating and managing laboratory testing programs, including routine and specialized analytical methods.
Analyzing and interpreting technical data.
Preparing reports, cost estimates, health and safety plans, regulatory reviews, proposals, and other project deliverables.
Supporting the design and execution of bench-scale and pilot studies through technical calculations, process evaluations, and development of P&IDs and testing plans.
Managing project tasks, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client communications.
Collaborating with engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, geologists, and other technical specialists.
Mentoring and supporting junior staff through technical guidance, field training, and professional development opportunities.
