Staff Frontend Engineer

VendeluxNew York, NY
$225,000 - $250,000Hybrid

About The Position

Vendelux is seeking a Staff Software Engineer with a strong frontend focus to help build the next generation of their web application and ship critical product experiences at scale. This role involves technical leadership, shaping the customer-facing product, and working deeply within the frontend stack while also contributing across the broader system. The company is a Series B SaaS company backed by top-tier investors, focused on providing event marketing intelligence and turning insights into pipeline through their platform and Vendelux Meetings. As a Staff Engineer, you will own major product experiences end-to-end, set technical direction for frontend architecture, and ship high-quality, secure, well-tested software. You will collaborate closely with product, design, data, and backend engineers, as well as operations and revenue teams, and directly with customers. The role also involves identifying opportunities for frontend performance and developer experience improvements, defining product roadmaps and technical strategy, and mentoring other engineers. Frontend engineers at Vendelux work closely with APIs, data platforms, and infrastructure, offering opportunities to influence the broader system.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience building complex software applications, with significant experience building modern web applications.
  • Deep experience with TypeScript and React, and strong opinions about building maintainable, performant frontend systems.
  • A track record of shaping and shipping valuable product features, not just building technology for its own sake.
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, API integration, testing, accessibility, performance, and modern web development practices.
  • Experience working with component libraries and/or design systems such as Shadcn or MUI.
  • Comfortable working across the stack and understanding how frontend decisions interact with APIs, databases, data pipelines, and infrastructure.
  • Experience deploying production applications and services on AWS or GCP.
  • Good judgment around technical debt, architectural tradeoffs, and when to optimize for speed versus long-term maintainability.
  • Comfortable using modern AI development tools to accelerate development and improve engineering workflows.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), preferably with Pulumi.
  • Familiarity with network security and protecting production applications.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to both engineers and non-engineers.
  • A strong drive to raise the engineering bar through patterns, tooling, documentation, and best practices.
  • You build in the open, share context generously, and enjoy helping other engineers become more effective.
  • The humor and humility to maintain perspective while working in a fast-moving environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with data-intensive applications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with moving, ingesting, and transforming data at scale is valuable, but you don't need to be a data engineer to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Own major product experiences end-to-end, from technical design and frontend architecture through implementation, testing, measurement, and iteration.
  • Build and evolve our best-in-class web application using TypeScript, React, Shadcn/MUI, and Node.js, with a focus on usability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Set technical direction for frontend architecture, patterns, and engineering practices, helping the team build a consistent and scalable application as the product grows.
  • Ship high-quality, secure, well-tested software through incremental, data-driven delivery, balancing product velocity with long-term technical health.
  • Solve challenging product and technical problems across the stack, working closely with product, design, data, and backend engineers to turn ambiguous requirements into great user experiences.
  • Partner with our operations and revenue teams, as well as directly with customers, to understand how people use the product and turn user feedback and analytics into better product experiences.
  • Identify opportunities to improve frontend performance, developer experience, observability, testing, and overall application quality.
  • Work closely with our leadership team to define the product roadmap and technical strategy, particularly around the evolution of our customer-facing application.
  • Be a technical leader and valued contributor within an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
  • Mentor engineers through pair programming, code reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on technical leadership, with an emphasis on pragmatic, performant, and maintainable frontend engineering.
  • Contribute across the stack when it makes sense. Our frontend engineers work closely with the APIs, data platforms, and infrastructure that power the product, so you'll have opportunities to influence the broader system as well.
