Staff Frontend Engineer

Magnit
$160,000 - $187,000

About The Position

Magnit Pulse is our intelligence and action layer that sits above any VMS, bringing approvals, notifications, rate intelligence, and compliance directly into the tools managers already use like Microsoft Teams and Slack. We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to own the frontend and shape the product experience of Pulse as it moves from MVP into broad commercial adoption. This is a hands-on senior role for someone who thinks like a product builder, not just an implementer. You will own the client-facing surface of Pulse end to end, partner closely with design and product, and set the technical direction for how our experiences get built.

Requirements

  • 10+ years building production frontend and full-stack systems, with deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture.
  • Strong backend and API fluency with Node.js, GraphQL, and REST, enough to own the full path from UI to service contract.
  • A real design sensibility and a track record of partnering with designers to ship polished, usable interfaces rather than handing off wireframes.
  • Experience taking products from early stage to scale, including the judgment to know what to build now and what to defer.
  • Comfort with experimentation, observability, CI/CD, and phased releases in a production environment.
  • A product-builder mindset: you care about the customer outcome and the business result, not only the code.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Angular, Vue, or Next.js is a plus.
  • Experience building on Microsoft Teams, Slack, or other embedded app platforms.
  • Experience with AI or LLM-driven product experiences, including streaming output and workflow tooling.
  • Background in regulated or high-throughput domains such as fintech, trading, or enterprise workforce platforms.
  • Founder or early-stage experience, or a history of owning a product surface end to end.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and delivery of Pulse's frontend across our Teams and Slack applications, from component design through production.
  • Turn ambiguous product goals into clear, shippable experiences, working directly with design and product to define flows, edge cases, and rollout plans.
  • Build and maintain a reusable component and design system that keeps the product consistent and lets the team move faster.
  • Design the API contracts and frontend service layer, working across Node.js, GraphQL, and REST to connect the UI to our platform services.
  • Raise the bar on quality through testing, accessibility, performance work, telemetry, and controlled rollouts.
  • Contribute to product decisions, not just execute them, bringing a point of view on what to build and why.
  • Mentor other engineers and set frontend standards and patterns for the team.

Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO
  • Medical coverage
  • Dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • Retirement planning
  • Discounts and perks for tickets, travel, merchandise and more
  • Match employee contributions to favorite charities
  • Support corporate volunteering hours
