About The Position

The Test Technology Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intern to support defense-related technical projects. This position involves supporting field testing and data collection efforts alongside engineering and scientific staff at Kirtland Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range. As a Field Technician Intern, you will assist in the fabrication of structures and test articles, including tasks such as welding, carpentry, machining, concrete placement, heavy equipment operation, and surveying. We’re looking for someone who works well in a team environment, is eager to learn, and can contribute creative ideas while developing problem-solving skills alongside experienced engineers and technicians. In this hands-on role, you will gain experience using a variety of tools and equipment, including saws, drills, forklifts, welding tools, and other mechanical systems. Responsibilities also include supporting test setup, fabricating test articles, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Problem Solving and communication skills.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Able to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to read provided design drawings or willingness to learn.
  • Lift 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned tool and equipment inventory.
  • Fit test for Air Purifier, Half – face and Full-face respirator.
  • Read provided design drawings or willingness to learn.
