About The Position

Object Technology Solutions, Inc (OTSI) has an immediate opening for a Staff Engineering Technician. This opportunity with Client supports civil engineering efforts within the Mission Critical Solution, where infrastructure is designed to protect national security and support high consequence federal missions. Mission critical infrastructure extends beyond visible facilities to the resilient systems and sites that must perform without failure. Client partners with the U.S. Federal Government to deliver secure, sustainable planning and design solutions for federal facilities worldwide, reducing risk through collaboration, innovation, and reliable civil site development in complex operating environments. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician supports civil site development by producing and modifying engineering drawings and models under general supervision. This role applies foundational civil engineering principles to develop accurate, high quality deliverables using tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, helping ensure site designs are functional, and aligned with mission critical goals. Functions in a project engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Apply foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions.

Requirements

  • Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
  • Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and CLIENT policies and procedures.
  • Reviews design inputs in order to ensure consistency.
  • Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
  • Performs design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
  • Diploma or Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

  • Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
  • Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and CLIENT policies and procedures.
  • Reviews project requirements and accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
  • Proactively applies CLIENT Quality Program to deliverables.
  • Reviews design inputs in order to ensure consistency.
  • Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
  • Applies basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
  • Performs design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
  • Reviews the deliverables of others.
  • Defines work assignments and maintain schedules.
  • Programs control systems or participates in other plant start-up activities associated with a specialized area of expertise.
  • Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
  • Supports field activities.
  • Focuses on the needs of internal clients while utilizing an understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
  • Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
  • Applies judgment and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
