This role involves determining project scope and specifications with substantial latitude for action or decision. The associate will recommend changes in procedures, design, or equipment as necessary. Key responsibilities include initiating and maintaining communication with clients to promote services, provide technical assistance for complex product evaluations, and follow up on client inquiries. The role also requires resolving technical issues, explaining UL procedures and requirements, and planning, conducting, and supervising projects of major magnitude and scope. The associate will identify non-compliance with UL requirements or changes in project scope, coordinate complex laboratory activities by developing data sheets, and manage administrative aspects of project management. There is potential to serve as Project Handler or Reviewer of record. Continuous improvement concepts will be integrated into all aspects of the job. The role involves resolving complex engineering issues related to Variation Notices, developing UL requirements for testing products beyond existing standards or with unique features, and developing special test methods and equipment. The associate will represent UL on technical committees and provide leadership and technical advice on special projects. Direction may be provided as a Primary Designated Engineer or Designated Engineer for specific product categories. Adherence to the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and security practices is mandatory. Special projects will also be undertaken as directed.
