About The Position

CUMULUS MEDIA | INDIANAPOLIS/KOKOMO/MUNCIE is searching for a Staff Engineer. The Staff Engineer assists the engineering team in these fast-paced markets with the installation, maintenance/repair of studio equipment, transmitting and ancillary equipment to maintain competitive signals in the markets while complying with all FCC technical requirements. Includes: assisting with telecommunications, computer and networking systems.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of applicable FCC rules and regulations preferred
  • Computer literacy in or the desire to learn applicable software packages which may include (Microsoft OS, MS Office Suite, and radio automation software, etc.)
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment to the component level preferred
  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting and repairing AM and FM transmitting facilities
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS and generators
  • Knowledge of telephone systems such as POTS, ISDN, T1, DSL and PRI circuits, and VOIP
  • Interact with management and staff at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task and handle pressures and deadlines and skills in prioritizing
  • May be required to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Minimum 1+ years in broadcast engineering or related field
  • Associates or technical degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent level of experience
  • Must possess valid state driver’s license and pass a background check including a satisfactory driving record

Responsibilities

  • Maintains radio station operations through preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Follows routine maintenance procedures and schedules for electronic equipment
  • Follows routine maintenance procedures and schedules for studios and radio tower sites
  • Performs necessary measurements of electronic equipment performance
  • Installs and performs maintenance on mixing consoles, automation servers, audio routers, recording equipment, microphones, digital audio systems, transmitters, antennas, control systems, remote equipment, etc.
  • Assists with maintenance and support of computer networks, servers, workstations and related systems
  • Provide coverage in the absence of other engineering staff
  • Rotating on call
  • Tracking of vehicle fleet maintenance
  • Facility HVAC knowledge and operational maintenance
