About The Position

Our Staff Environmental Engineer position is located in our Tampa, FL office. The compensation range for this role is $60,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities: Plans and executes multiple projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer including coordinating with field technicians and CAD professionals. Responsible for estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of firm standards under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of technical staff assigned to projects by assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing technical guidance. Oversees development of project document deliverable outlines and layouts, technical writing of reports, data interpretation, and development of graphical presentations in a logical and professional manner. Consults with clients to prepare plans, reports, and assessments. Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Responsible for project budget and hours and utilizes time effectively to complete tasks within assigned timeframe(s). Communicates to leadership when potential issues are foreseen, or potential issues arise that may inhibit performing tasks within the allotted schedule and budget. Oversees project set up and authorization paperwork to include: project authorizations, contracts, subcontracts, purchase order requests, and project schedules. Oversees project financial management duties to include: project projections, project invoicing, subcontractor invoice approvals, progress reporting, and project/subcontractor contract compliance. Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs. Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • Possess an Engineer In Training (EIT) certificate or will have one within 6 months of starting.
  • Expected to continue progressing towards eventually obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Knowledge of assessment and remediation principles.
  • Knowledge of computer aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS etc.)
  • Ability to complete and maintain HAZWOPER certification with the 40-hour HAZWOPER environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher class
  • Ability to identify problems and actively devise appropriate solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Ability to work well with others and accept constructive feedback to grow as an engineer and project manager
  • Ability to communicate in a group-oriented setting, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders

  • Ability to manage due dates and deliverables across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Florida Department of Environmental Protection Petroleum Restoration Program experienced preferred.
