About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will help build BlackLine’s next-generation data platform. The role focuses on designing and building connectors that move data to and from BlackLine and ERP, banking, payments, tax, and subledger systems, with an emphasis on extensibility, usability, scalability, and the data-transfer protocols supported by each system. You will design, develop, troubleshoot, maintain, optimize, and scale cloud-based backend platform components, services, and frameworks, including event buses, API gateways, developer portals, job schedulers, identity management, search, workflow orchestration, and data integration. You will be a hands-on engineer who also leads and mentors other engineers, and you will collaborate in an agile environment focused on customer problems and product innovation. The role provides technical leadership across requirements analysis, architecture, development, testing, and delivery of secure, scalable distributed backend services. It also involves maintaining software quality, making technical decisions and trade-offs, supporting deployments and releases, and occasionally providing off-hours support. BlackLine describes its workplace as a combination of virtual and in-person interactions. Candidates who live within a reasonable commute to an office will work in the office at least three days a week. The listed salary range is $222,000 to $278,000. Placement depends on relevant experience, skills, and location. Eligible employees may also receive short- and long-term incentives and benefit and wellness plans.
