About The Position

Micron Technology is seeking a Staff Engineer for advanced packaging development in design enablement and layout. The role develops and refines design rules, requirements, and test structures for advanced packaging, and creates layout and DBR test-vehicle and product designs to support technology development. It ensures robust design rule checks and appropriate responses to deviations, analyzes large datasets to inform decisions, and leverages artificial intelligence to reduce development time. The engineer manages structure evaluation to support development and quantify process margins, partners strategically with teams to resolve layout-related process issues and prioritize solutions, documents and communicates complex problem resolutions, and drives cross-node design rule alignment. The role involves communication across Process Integration, Product Engineering, Design, and Advanced Mask teams.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of semiconductor-industry experience in areas such as Process Integration, Yield Enhancement, Product Engineering, Design, Test Structure Development, or Unit Process Development.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor memory process flows and TSV-based packaging.
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency with EDA tools, such as Cadence Virtuoso Layout and Schematic Editor, Calibre, and Hspice.
  • Experience with design rule characterization and validation on silicon.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated success resolving complex technical issues and communicating clearly under pressure.
  • Exposure to CAD group interactions, data post-processing, and database/reticle data transfer.

Nice To Haves

  • End-to-end experience across design, layout, verification, and tape-out.
  • Experience creating agentic workflows for design layout verification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine design rules, requirements, and test structures for advanced packaging.
  • Create layout and DBR test-vehicle and product designs to support technology development.
  • Ensure robust Design Rule Checks (DRC) and determine appropriate responses to deviations.
  • Analyze large datasets to extract insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Leverage artificial intelligence to reduce development time.
  • Manage structure evaluation to support development and quantify process margins.
  • Partner with teams to resolve process issues related to layout and prioritize solutions.
  • Document and communicate complex problem resolutions.
  • Drive cross-node design rule alignment.
  • Communicate effectively across Process Integration, Product Engineering, Design, and Advanced Mask teams.

Benefits

  • Choice of medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Programs to protect income in the event of illness or injury.
  • Paid family leave.
  • Paid time off.
