About The Position

The Staff Engineer, Vehicle Ergonomics will drive key human factors requirements for Rivian products and lead vehicle occupant packaging activities from initial concept through production. The role defines and validates ergonomics requirements, evaluates vehicle ergonomics and human factors performance, and analyzes designs for compliance. It also involves defining occupant dimensional targets, maintaining digital human analog models, and conducting benchmarking analyses.

Requirements

• B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience in the automotive industry.
• Experience with occupant packaging standards and guidelines.
• Working knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements.
• Experience with standard 3D CAD software such as CATIA V5 or V6.
• Experience with posture prediction software such as RAMSIS.

Responsibilities

• Define and validate all ergonomics requirements for a vehicle program.
• Coordinate and operate user clinics to evaluate ergonomics and human factors performance.
• Conduct physical tests and measurement procedures to validate occupant positioning.
• Work with the prototyping team to develop physical properties for ergonomics evaluation.
• Define key occupant dimensional targets.
• Create and maintain digital human analog models.
• Analyze vehicle designs to ensure compliance with ergonomics requirements.
• Perform benchmarking analyses and maintain a database of dimensional benchmarks.
