About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Staff Engineer - Systems Engineering role is technical and process leadership of the MPPST (Multi-Platform Product Support Team) Contract under the STI Organization (Systems Technology Integration). Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline focused on an approach, mindset, and process that considers both the business and technical needs of customers to provide a quality product meeting user needs. This discipline involves a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, including identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification of proper integration and execution, from concept to production to operation. The role impacts the team’s ability to achieve service, quality, and timeliness objectives, operating under policy objectives with moderate autonomy. High levels of operational judgment are required. The candidate will coordinate across multiple product lines, primarily Lynn-based engines. This role involves interpreting internal and external business challenges, recommending best practices, staying informed of industry trends, and using high judgment to handle complex tasks in operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering areas. The Staff Engineer will assess information quality, ask pertinent questions, offer new solutions, and provide recommendations, often using multiple internal and some external sources. They may lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity, and communicate difficult concepts to influence others' opinions or guide them to consider different viewpoints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering
  • Ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))

Responsibilities

  • Leading technology programs under the MPPST contract
  • Coordinating and tracking contract deliverables to ensure on-time, quality execution
  • Supporting proposals and negotiations for follow-on / next-year MPPST contracts
  • Coordinating across multiple product lines, with a focus on Lynn-based engines
  • Establishing processes for the MPPST team to follow in proposal and execution of programs
