Staff Engineer, RPM Growth & Platform

Tempus AI•New York, NY
•$170,000 - $230,000•Remote

About The Position

Tempus is a leading precision medicine platform that connects an ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver actionable insights to physicians. Center Health, now part of Tempus, focuses on helping people with diabetes manage their condition through an AI coach called Aria and a rapidly growing remote patient monitoring (RPM) program. This RPM program connects patients' glucose monitors to alert care teams when patients go out of range, providing timely support between visits. The integration with Tempus brings a deep clinical history, creating a new approach to chronic disease care, starting with diabetes. The Staff Engineer, RPM Growth & Platform role is crucial for driving the growth of Center's RPM program. This individual will be responsible for translating growth ideas into shipped products that increase clinic enrollment, patient engagement, and overall program success. The role offers significant ownership and the opportunity to shape the platform's evolution as it scales to larger health systems. Collaboration with the engineering lead on architecture, contributions to the Aria AI coach, and direct involvement in patient support cases are key aspects of this position. The company emphasizes a culture of quality, privacy, and continuous improvement, especially given that some of their products are considered medical devices and they operate as a HIPAA business associate.

Requirements

  • A strong track record of shipping products people use, including technical leadership on systems that grew a lot on your watch. That's usually 8+ years, but we care most about what you've built.
  • You've started something of your own, or been one of the first engineers at a startup. Most of our team has, and it's the best sign we know that someone loves owning a problem end to end.
  • You thrive in ambiguity. Hand you a fuzzy growth idea and you'll come back with a plan, a build, and a result you can measure.
  • Strong full-stack TypeScript, and you're comfortable moving between front end, back end and data.
  • You're AI-native. You build with AI tools every day and have good instincts for when to trust them and how to check their work.
  • Great product sense. You care how patients and clinicians feel when they use what you've made.

  • Own bug and vulnerability management, so issues get triaged quickly and closed properly
  • Dig into patient support cases when they need an engineer's eye
