About The Position

Tempus is a precision medicine platform that uses proprietary technology to connect real-world evidence and deliver actionable insights to physicians. Center Health, now part of Tempus, focuses on helping people with diabetes through its AI coach, Aria, and a rapidly growing remote patient monitoring (RPM) program. This RPM program connects patients' glucose monitors to their care teams, providing timely alerts for out-of-range glucose levels and supporting patients between appointments. The integration of Center Health's live data with Tempus' extensive clinical history creates a novel approach to chronic disease management, starting with diabetes. The Senior Software Engineer II will be responsible for maintaining and improving the RPM engine, ensuring the smooth operation of various systems including patient outreach, device connections, data synchronization, and claims documentation. This role involves owning the integrations, monitoring systems, and responding to issues. The engineer will also identify opportunities for growth within the RPM system.

Requirements

  • A solid track record of shipping and running production systems, typically 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience as an early engineer in a startup or having started something of your own.
  • Proficiency in making things reliable, including good monitoring, clean integrations, and methodical troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience building with AI tools and verifying their output.
  • Solid TypeScript skills or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience managing integrations, APIs, data pipelines, and third-party systems.

Nice To Haves

  • EHR or health data standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Workflow automation tools like n8n.
  • Experience with healthcare billing.
  • Mobile development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve automations for outreach, data sync, and reporting.
  • Contribute ideas for growing the RPM program and implement them.
  • Maintain RPM and EHR integrations with proactive monitoring.
  • Manage the EHR integration pipeline, including exports, re-exports, and clinic reports.
  • Provide timely engineering support to clinics, patients, and the support team.
  • Lead EHR integrations for larger clients.
