About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Geotechnical Staff Engineer to join their Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Orlando, Florida. This role is within the Building & Construction division, which provides assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services in civil and commercial construction. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for performing various assignments including proposal preparation, drilling plans, and laboratory assignments. They will conduct independent evaluations using standard engineering techniques and procedures, with minor modifications as directed by senior staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited/ABET school is required.
Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required.
The ability to read and understand work plans is required.
Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering degree is preferred.
4 years' progressive geotechnical engineering experience preferred.
PE Registration or EIT/EI Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepares preliminary scopes, budgets, proposals and schedules for projects.
Prepares preliminary and design-level geotechnical reports for projects as per specifications.
Prepares field exploration assignments and files utility clearance tickets for drilling.
Attends client site meetings.
Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
Works on multiple projects concurrently.
May perform on-site observations or inspections.
Carry out engineering calculations and computer modeling using engineering software.
Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
