About The Position

Intertek is seeking a Staff (Civil/ Geotechnical) Engineer - Construction to join their Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Tukwila, WA. This role offers a career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek-PSI is a US-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection in civil and commercial construction, with services including construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/ Geotechnical Engineering is required.
  • Knowledge in civil engineering fundamentals and soil mechanics.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
  • Ability to periodically work off shifts and overtime.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required.
  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
  • Ability to climb and work at heights occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training Certificate is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a DOT jobs is preferred.
  • Experience performing construction materials testing is preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of construction materials testing, or civil/ geotechnical engineering experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
  • Provide support in geotechnical field investigations, including logging of soils borings, performing percolation testing, and conducting soils strength testing.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and proposals.
  • Perform engineering analysis under the guidance of a professional engineer.
  • Review project plans and specifications prepared by others.
  • Attend client site meetings and communicate effectively with client and project teams.
  • Perform testing and inspection tasks in the field and laboratory regularly.
  • Operate testing equipment, conduct testing, and provide assessment of data through reporting.
  • May perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests.
  • Work on one or multiple projects at a time.
  • May manage projects, train and oversee technicians, and review field and lab data.
