About The Position

The Electrical Safety Integration Engineer leads the development and integration of safety systems necessary to achieve high levels of vehicle safety. This role collaborates with the broader Vehicle Safety Engineering team, Homologation team, and other cross-functional teams to define crash reaction strategies and electrical safety requirements. The individual in this position works closely with Electrical Energy Storage, Electric Power Conversion, Electrical Hardware, Packaging, and Software teams to develop subsystem requirements and validate their performance in crash scenarios through virtual simulations and physical testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years experience in automotive safety, vehicle testing, or system integration.
  • Ability to travel to vehicle and component launch locations.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, NCAP and other automotive safety evaluation preferred.
  • Proven project management experience, with expertise in tracking milestones, managing risks, and coordinating teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential roadblocks in safety system development.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, ensuring clear expectations and structured execution of safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of electrical safety strategies, including defining and ensuring compliance with vehicle-level electrical safety requirements.
  • Work autonomously to define, develop, and execute testing strategies for both HV and LV electrical systems, with a focus on crash reaction and safety performance.
  • Lead the analysis of electrical system designs and ensure they meet crash safety requirements, including failure mode analysis and system integration.
  • Collaborate with Structural Safety, Packaging, and Software teams to ensure comprehensive electrical safety strategies are in place.
  • Take ownership of the crash testing and validation process with regards to electrical safety, from simulation to physical testing, ensuring the electrical systems meet required safety standards.
  • Mentor and guide teams, providing thought leadership and expertise in electrical safety engineering.
  • Influence and collaborate with senior leadership to align electrical safety strategies with broader organizational goals.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex engineering challenges, driving continuous improvement in electrical safety performance across programs.
