About The Position

The Staff Electrical Engineer researches, develops, designs, tests, evaluates, schematics, and documents electrical components, subassemblies, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering. This position is responsible to work independently and as a member of a team supporting the development of capital equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical engineering or a related field or higher
  • 8+ years of experience in Electrical Systems Design and Development
  • 8+ years of ECAD experience (Solidworks Electrical)
  • Experience with designing electrical systems for complex capital equipment in high value adding industries, such as additive, semiconductor or display.
  • Hands on experience with prototyping, troubleshooting, manufacturing or installing complex capital equipment.
  • Must have experience with Solidworks Electrical 3D for documentation of electrical designs
  • Experience with designing layout of Electrical Control Panel and Machine Cable Routing with Mechanical CAD software such as Solidworks
  • Experience with Product Design Management and Product Life Management software, such as Solidworks PDM & Propel
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of Automation Control Networks, Programmable Logic Controllers, Motion Control, Machine Safety Systems, AC/DC Power Distribution, Machinery Safety/Compliance Standards
  • Experience with IEC 81346-1 Standard
  • Systems level thinker with experience working on complex electrical systems
  • High level of commitment to contribute to a positive, high-paced and results-oriented work environment
  • Willing and able to work “Hands-on†to build, integrate and test newly developed systems and/or subsystems
  • Good experience in ECAD design including GD&T, FEA and quality detail drawing documentation.
  • Self-driven and independent thinking. Ability to work independently.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Metal additive manufacturing experience a plus but not required
  • Experience with risk analysis methods such as FMEA or ISO12100
  • Experience with EtherCAT and IO-Link is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design and document Electrical Systems and Components, such as Cable, Wire Harness, Industrial Control Panel and Cable Routing/Managements.
  • Propose specifications, create test plan and conduct validation for electrical systems.
  • Maintain and create Electrical System Interconnect Diagram and Schematics for current and future products
  • Manage supplier for prototype out-sources electrical assemblies
  • Support supply chain for management of End-of-life and Obsolescence electrical components
  • Provide electrical expertise in support of other job functions, including hardware/software/process engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and field services.
  • Conduct system level integration and validation of designs (testing and troubleshooting)
  • Continuous improvement related to enhancing system performance, reliability and manufacturability
  • Drive full documentation of design including BOM, drawings and procedures
  • Oversee and coordinate activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of electrical systems.
  • Manage small to mid-sized projects from concept to production.
  • Collaborate in a team environment working with Hardware, Software and Process.
  • Participates in team and other assigned meetings
