The Staff Education Associate initiates the planning and implementation of staff orientation and education for the Nursing Department and to a limited degree in other departments of the Home. This role requires a thorough knowledge of the principles of geriatric nursing and supports the Culture of Excellence through active participation in assigned neighborhood initiatives.

Requirements

  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Bachelors Degree in related field
  • Two to three years of progressive nursing home experience
  • Ability to meet the public and participate in professional programs
  • Current CNA Certification
  • Dependable, report to work on-time for every scheduled shift and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly” service-oriented demeanor
  • Supports Culture of Excellence initiatives by interactions with co-workers and/or Members
  • Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by Friendly Home
  • May be requested to assist in the evacuation of Members or perform other procedures to protect the safety of Members, visitors and team members during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides education to CNAs to promote excellence in quality of care and quality of life of Members.
  • Assists CNAs in completing required in-service hours.
  • Helps create a workplace where team members are motivated to do their best work while feeling valued, safe, and appreciated.
  • Helps create a highly competent workforce that is best prepared to provide excellent, compassionate care and services.
  • Impacts retention in a positive manner by building relationships and providing resources and guidance to team members.
  • Acts as a partner to Managers and Supervisors in workforce development.
  • Identifies areas of improvement in quality of care and services.
  • Offers assistance in developing skills that allow individuals to cope with unknown or uncomfortable situations.
  • Identifies barriers to employees and brainstorms ways to overcome them.
  • Provides education on the policies of The Friendly Home, and the Nursing Policies and Procedures as directed by the Staff Education Supervisor.
  • Promotes quality assurance and evaluates the effectiveness of education programs, ensuring they meet staff needs.
  • Records attendance of educational programs on individual nursing assistant records.
  • Assists in the evaluation of work performance of nursing personnel.
  • Assists with the completion of quality audits in the department.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Performs other duties as required by Staff Education Supervisor, Director of Health Services, or Administration.
