About The Position

Terawatt Infrastructure is hiring a Staff DevOps Engineer to evolve and operate its platform for fleet EV charging. The role leads development and reliability of the charging network management system and capabilities that support a high-quality site experience. Working with the SVP of Technology, Product, and technical partners, the engineer will scale cloud infrastructure and improve the reliability, performance, and maintainability of charging infrastructure and software systems. The role also owns infrastructure for Terawatt’s internal tools and AI platform, partnering with the AI Product Manager and engineers to deploy, secure, observe, and scale agentic workflows. The work spans cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, security, observability, developer tooling, ML and AI workloads, data infrastructure, and a web-based depot operations platform. The position participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation and leads incident response and blameless postmortems.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years building and operating high-availability production systems, including leading DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering initiatives.
  • Deep experience building and maintaining AWS, managed Kubernetes (EKS), and infrastructure as code with Terraform.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, and observability with tools such as OpenTelemetry and Grafana.
  • Experience leading SRE or DevOps initiatives supporting production cloud platforms.
  • Experience with managed databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multi-region AWS and EKS at scale.
  • Experience operating LLM-based applications or agents in production, including monitoring, cost optimization, evaluations, and LLM-specific security controls.
  • Experience with data platforms such as Databricks or Kafka (MSK), or similar streaming/data platforms.
  • Proficiency in Python or NodeJS.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction for DevOps and platform engineering, mentor engineers, and champion infrastructure standards across the organization.
  • Lead planning for team goals aligned with business goals and the technology roadmap.
  • Lead and architect the evolution of cloud infrastructure using Terraform to build resilient, scalable systems.
  • Maintain Helm charts and deployment patterns that enable teams to manage service lifecycles while following deployment standards.
  • Build tooling and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable engineering teams to own application deployment.
  • Drive security across the stack by using tools to detect vulnerabilities and anomalies and automating SOC 2 controls.
  • Extend security controls to AI and agentic systems, addressing prompt injection, over-permissioned tool access, and sensitive data exposure.
  • Advance observability with OpenTelemetry and Grafana Cloud across services, infrastructure, and AI workloads.
  • Build developer tooling for local and remote container-based development and automated production-like testing and release validation.
  • Build and operate infrastructure for ML and internal AI workloads, including model-training compute, agent and MCP server hosting, and least-privilege access to internal data.
  • Partner with the Data team on core data infrastructure, including the Databricks data lake and Kafka event streams (Aiven/AWS).
  • Contribute to a highly available, web-based depot operations platform using NodeJS.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and lead incident response and blameless postmortems.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Performance-based incentives, where applicable.
