About The Position

We’re looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and reliability tooling behind our exchange and trading platform. You’ll build and run the cloud foundation that keeps a low-latency, regulated, always-on market available, and make it faster and safer for engineers to ship. You’ll work closely with backend, security, and compliance partners, and you’ll have real ownership from day one. The role owns the cloud infrastructure, delivery pipelines, and reliability tooling behind real-time, high-throughput systems at the core of a sports-native, CFTC-regulated prediction market. It is a hands-on technical leadership role with influence over architecture, platform standards, and how engineering ships and operates software safely at speed. The engineer will help scale a live, regulated exchange as prediction markets grow.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering experience running production systems at scale.
  • Deep hands-on expertise with AWS or equivalent, including networking, IAM, compute, and managed data services.
  • Strong production experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including cluster operations and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management; Terraform is strongly preferred, along with GitOps-style workflows.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines at scale, using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar.
  • Strong observability skills with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or comparable tooling, plus SLO-driven alerting.
  • Scripting or programming ability in Go or Python (Go preferred), and comfort with Linux and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience operating Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases, and low-latency, real-time services in production.
  • Experience with incident management, on-call, and blameless postmortems.
  • Working knowledge of security best practices, including secrets management, least-privilege access, vulnerability scanning, and audit logging.
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining complex tradeoffs to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive, growth-focused, highly adaptable, and has a strong sense of ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in trading, exchange, fintech, or other high-throughput regulated systems.
  • Experience in prediction markets, sports betting, or regulated exchanges such as CFTC-regulated markets.
  • Familiarity with risk, fraud, KYC/AML, or settlement systems.
  • Experience scaling a team through hiring and growth in a startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate AWS infrastructure as code across production, staging, and development environments.
  • Run and scale the Kubernetes platform, including cluster upgrades, autoscaling, networking, and cost management.
  • Own CI/CD end to end, building fast and reliable build, test, and deployment pipelines with canary or blue/green rollout strategies and quick rollback.
  • Build exchange observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and actionable alerting tied to latency and availability SLOs.
  • Operate and tune infrastructure for event-driven systems, including Kafka, databases, caches, and WebSocket edge services.
  • Participate in on-call, lead incident response, and conduct blameless postmortems that produce durable fixes.
  • Partner with security and compliance on access controls, secrets management, audit logging, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery to meet CFTC-regulated expectations.
  • Plan capacity and performance testing ahead of high-volume sports events, and automate away toil.
  • Document runbooks and share knowledge so the engineering team can operate with confidence.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and influence architecture, platform standards, and safe software delivery and operations.

Benefits

  • Equity opportunities.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Flexible time off.
  • Fully remote work within the U.S.
  • Flexibility to work in a way that supports doing your best work.
  • A culture that respects employees’ time and avoids unnecessary meetings.
