Staff DevOps Engineer

HubstaffAtlanta, GA

About The Position

We're hiring a Staff DevOps Engineer to help shape the future of Hubstaff's cloud platform. This is a high-impact, fully remote role for an experienced infrastructure engineer who enjoys building secure, scalable, and highly automated systems. You'll partner with our CTO, architects, and engineering teams to improve reliability, security, developer experience, and platform scalability across our global SaaS platform. This isn't a traditional operations role. We're looking for someone who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges, automating everything possible, and building the internal platform that enables engineering teams to move faster. If you enjoy building secure, scalable cloud platforms, automating infrastructure, and solving complex engineering challenges, we'd love to meet you.

Requirements

  • Built and operated production cloud infrastructure at scale using AWS (GCP experience is a plus).
  • Expert in Terraform, Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, Helm, and modern GitOps practices.
  • Built reliable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting production PostgreSQL, Redis, and distributed systems.
  • Implemented monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.
  • Understand networking, IAM, encryption, disaster recovery, and cloud security best practices.
  • Comfortable supporting applications built with Ruby on Rails, Go, Rust, or Node.js.
  • Enjoy solving complex infrastructure problems through automation and ownership.

Nice To Haves

  • Helped scale infrastructure for a high-growth SaaS product.
  • Built or evolved a platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps function.
  • Led cloud modernization or infrastructure transformation initiatives.
  • Supported applications built with Ruby on Rails, Go, Rust, or Node.js.
  • Worked with GitOps, service mesh technologies, or serverless platforms.
  • Built infrastructure for data platforms or ETL workloads.
  • Thrived in a fully remote, async-first engineering culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design and operate scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP.
  • Build and improve Kubernetes, Linux, and cloud networking environments.
  • Standardize infrastructure using Terraform, Terragrunt, Helm, and GitOps practices.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
  • Build monitoring, logging, and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, CloudWatch, and Better Stack.
  • Strengthen security, disaster recovery, and platform resilience.
  • Drive platform strategy while remaining hands-on with implementation.
  • Improve developer productivity through automation and self-service infrastructure.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience, skills, and location.
