About The Position

Providence Health Care, Inc. is seeking a Staff Development professional with knowledge of general nursing principles and an understanding of the concepts of aging and concerns of the elderly population. This role is responsible for Clinical Orientation and Staff Development, promoting a positive professional image and enhancing public relations for the facility. The position requires adherence to the Mission, Values, and Vision of Providence Health Care, Inc., and involves creating and evaluating quality staff education programs, promoting constructive working relationships, participating in committees, and advocating for staff development. The role also emphasizes patient rights, confidentiality, quality assurance, and maintaining a work environment free from harassment and discrimination. Teamwork, appropriate communication, and completing in-service training are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Nurse graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current license to practice in the State of Indiana in good standing
  • Must be able to receive and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Must be able to respond to audible emergency signals, alarms, call lights and telephones.
  • Must be able to read regular/small size print in multiple colors.
  • Must be able to remember multiple assignments over an extended period of time.
  • Be able to remember data derived from assessments and document, review, specific requests, ideas and concepts and relate them as necessary.
  • Must be able to concentrate on details during constant interruptions.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Two years’ experience in geriatric or long-term care nursing preferred

  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: Confidentiality of all data, Quality Assurance and compliance, and Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  • Supports and participates in common teamwork: Cooperates and works together with all co-workers, Uses tactful, appropriate communications, Follows up as appropriate, Promotes positive public relations with patients, family members and guests.
  • Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
  • Retain and develop clinical staff
  • Assure all required nursing orientation and staff development programs are conducted and recorded
  • Conducts new hire orientation and annual skill assessments
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the CNA Training Program
  • Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit as well as within other units and departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area within given timeframes and within established policy.
  • Assist with Safety Assurance for Residents and Staff Members: Observe staff members’ safety practices and reporting procedures, Inspect the environment for risk factors during rounds, Observes staff compliance with OSHA requirements, Inspects and observes the use of medical devices, Collaborate with Social Service Director to preform and evaluate elopement drills.
  • Promote Constructive Working Relationships Between Health Care Disciplines: Communicate with department heads to problem solve and plan for improved care and services, Participate in Nursing Department Management meetings to exchange information and address issues affecting resident care and promote job satisfaction.
  • Participate in Various Committees: Quality Assessment and Improvement Committee, Skills Fair.
  • Exhibit Professional Nursing Leadership: Maintain current knowledge of scope of practice, Maintain familiarity with current state and federal regulations, Encourage innovative methods for delivery of long-term care, Adhere to the Nurse Practice Act, Display courteous, cooperative, helpful manner, Provides skilled nursing care, Provides consultation of licensed and unlicensed staff, Know and follow existing lines of communication and authority, Assure that resident rights are maintained at all times, Serve as liaison to residents and sponsors for suggestions and concerns.
  • Attend management meetings as requested by Director of Nursing
  • Other duties as assigned, including tasks which support the essential functions that includes filling in staffing holes as they arise.
