About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to lead the training and continuous quality improvement efforts for child welfare programs in the agency. This is professional and analytical work providing staff assistance and evaluation of the agency’s child welfare program in functional program areas that include intake, assessments and on call. Where social work practices overlap, this focus will extend to foster care, adoptions, in-home services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work; a bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social worker, plus one year of directly related experience in case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning, or a four year degree in a human services field and two years of directly related experience in case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning; or graduation from a four year college or university and three years of directly related experience in case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of N.C. Statutes related to child abuse/neglect/dependency; manual material pertaining to provision of Social Services, Protective Services and Foster Care Services.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to their audience and situation.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience).
  • Possession of a valid N.C. driver's license is required for this position and maintaining a driving record in accordance with Alamance County policy.

  • This position is subject to reallocation contingent upon funding, agency needs and client population and are subject to perform work during emergency or disaster situations as required and may be required to staff shelter overnight.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Creates the agency training plan and sets expectations in accordance with policy for training to include administrative, programmatic, technology, and continuation training.
  • Improve existing programs as new policy is implemented or current policy is updated.
  • Designs, implements, monitors and evaluates a coherent and effective quality improvement and staff development system.
  • Analyzes data, provides supportive consults in the form of home visits or other observation to assist in staff growth and skill enhancement.
  • Assesses individual, unit, and program training needs.
  • Studies and determines training needs of staff including, but not limited to program training, systems training, and leadership development.
  • Plans, develops, and provides training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Ensures that training programs meet the needs of new and incumbent agency staff.
  • Advises individual employees on training needs, of available educational or training resources, and means of utilizing such resources.
  • Develops, implements, and evolves child welfare program-wide framework to support ongoing continuous quality improvement.
  • Acts as internal consultant to administration and child welfare management staff for development and direction for performance improvement efforts.
