About The Position

The Centralized Staff Development Instructor is a clinical expert responsible for Arnot Health system-wide educational programs for staff to meet federal and state accreditation, regulatory mandates, quality management recommendations, and new policies and procedures for staff.

Requirements

  • Current NYS nursing licensure required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Minimum 3 years of appropriate nursing practice required.
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) due within 90 days of hire date.
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS instructor desirable, or completed in a negotiated time frame (not to exceed 1 year).
  • Teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs across the Arnot Health system: such as new employee orientation, certifications (CPR,ACLS,PALS), mandates, regulations, accreditation, quality management outcomes.
  • Formulating a goal directed plan of teaching which is prioritized and based on determined need.
  • Evaluating effectiveness of teaching.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation of orientation activities and ongoing educational programs, including objectives, class content, evaluations, and employee attendance records.
  • Maintaining and updating employee educational records in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Demonstrating sound knowledge base, high level of clinical experience skill and decision-making.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of job functions and policies across the Arnot Health system.
  • Determining appropriate teaching-learning strategies to meet educational need.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating quality learning modules in the LMS for Arnot Health.
  • Providing age appropriate educational knowledge to learners.
  • Serving on committees, task forces, and work groups on a voluntary and appointed basis at the Division of Nursing level.
  • Demonstrating self-directed learning and participating in continuing education to meet own professional development.
  • Collaborating with Unit-based Educators in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs given at unit level.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with Unit Directors, Decentralized Educators, and other departments to develop and refine General Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Clinical Assistant, Unit Clerk orientation and competencies.
  • Performing concurrent review of educational programs and analyzing appropriateness of programs at least annually.
  • Being familiar with and demonstrating Joint Commission principles and standards, and participating in the process as appropriate.
  • Attending all annual mandatory educational programs and maintaining annual competencies as required by position.
  • Understanding and demonstrating the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Arnot Health and Arnot Health.
