About The Position

The Staff Development Instructor contributes to the delivery of a high-standard of care provided by Home Care Direct Service Staff. Under the supervision of the Team Manager, Program Support Team, participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of Orientation and ongoing Staff Development programs for Direct Service Staff. Under the supervision of the Staff Development Coordinator, participates in the selection, training, supervision and evaluation of supplementary training staff/volunteers.

Requirements

  • Recent relevant experience in the provision of care and/or experience educating and evaluating skills of individuals in the healthcare field.
  • Minimum of two years recent Occupational Therapy experience in a community or health care setting, with at least one year in the area of assessment, instruction and/or application of ergonomic principles preferred.
  • Entry-to-practice academic credential in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated as determined by the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM); or, Entry-to-practice academic credential in physiotherapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated.
  • Registration is required with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (COTM) with the incumbent’s name entered in the practicing register.
  • Must be registered on the Practicing Roster of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba.
  • Valid Manitoba driver‘s license and access to a vehicle required.
  • Proficiency with computers is required.
  • A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in adult education preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in Adult Education will be an asset.
  • Member in good standing of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists in an asset.
  • Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred.
  • Knowledge of InterRAI, EHCR, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point is an asset.
