About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to leverage advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to solve complex business challenges. This role involves identifying and sourcing relevant data, developing predictive models, and delivering actionable insights that drive strategic decisions. The successful candidate will collaborate across functions to translate business needs into data-driven solutions, ensuring model accuracy and scalability. Expertise in data visualization and communication is essential to effectively present findings to stakeholders. The Sandman/Ad-tech team comprises skilled Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and Full Stack technologists dedicated to delivering scalable, data-driven solutions for Walmart. This multidisciplinary group combines AI, software engineering, and data science to develop autonomous AI agents, deploy reliable applications, and build core engineering capabilities at enterprise scale. By leveraging data, AI, and agile methodologies, the team drives innovation that enhances operational efficiency and supports Walmart’s mission. Collaboration within the team fosters the creation of intelligent systems that improve business performance across the organization.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in predictive analytics, machine learning algorithms, and data science methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and advanced data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, or PowerBI.
  • Strong understanding of data strategy, including data quality standards, governance, and scalable data storage solutions.
  • Experience with model assessment, validation techniques, and deployment in production environments.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into analytical models and actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of database technologies including SQL and NoSQL systems.
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate technical findings effectively to business stakeholders.
  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in an analytics related field OR Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics related field OR 6 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

  • Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.

  • Translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy models and monitor performance in production environments.
  • Mentor junior team members on analytical methods and best practices.
