About The Position

Via Transportation, Inc. is hiring a Staff Data Scientist in New York City, NY, with telecommuting permitted. The role applies advanced quantitative and statistical methods to support business model development and product innovation. The Staff Data Scientist develops and implements Bayesian models and stochastic simulations to generate insights and predictions, including analyses of user behavior and system performance. The position manages projects end-to-end, from data extraction, cleaning, and preparation through model development and validation to deployment of analytical solutions. It also designs and develops proof-of-concept applications as needed to operationalize and demonstrate modeling results, and prepares and delivers regular reports and presentations to stakeholders summarizing methodologies, progress, and key findings. The stated salary range is $115,835 to $175,000.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a closely related quantitative field.
• Experience completing at least two projects utilizing Bayesian inference, stochastic modeling, or a combination of both, in academic or professional settings.
• Demonstrated experience developing high-quality functional or object-oriented code, evidenced by approximately 10,000 lines of code written in Python, R, or another programming language suitable for data analytics.
