About The Position

As a Data Engineer on AppFolio’s Business Data Platform (BDP) team, you will own the operational backbone of the data infrastructure and help lead the company’s Secure Data Initiative, maturing role-based access, tag-based masking, and governance across the platform. You will help ensure resilient, secure, and scalable systems that power analytics, AI, experimentation, and business decision-making. The role bridges platform engineering, data governance, and DevOps to support seamless data delivery and access with strong observability and compliance. You will own observability and testing solutions, CI/CD architecture, service-account and permission management, data-pipeline SLOs, security controls, and infrastructure-as-code. You will also establish governance for AI-driven data consumption, partner with InfoSec and Compliance, maintain lineage and metadata documentation, automate routine operations, and collaborate with data and analytics teams to improve usability and self-service capabilities.
