About The Position

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is seeking an Unpaid Internship - Staff Counselling Intern to join the Human Resources Management Department (HRMD) within the General Secretariat. The General Secretariat directs administrative, human, and financial resources and activities of the Union. HRMD advises the Secretary General on human resources management, ensuring consistency with ITU strategies, policies, regulations, and rules, as well as UN Common System policies. HRMD efficiently manages the Union's human capital, creates a stimulating and supportive work environment, and encourages organizational creativity and performance measurement based on results. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to mental health and workplace wellbeing initiatives within a leading United Nations agency.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant IT programs/applications.
  • Excellent analytical, research and drafting skills.
  • Writes clearly and effectively.
  • Able to work autonomously.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive material.
  • University degree in Mental health or workplace wellbeing (or similar).
  • No work experience required.
  • English at advanced level.
  • Be under 30 years of age (Exceptions may be considered for candidates pursuing a Ph.D.).
  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate programme, or be a recent graduate (within six months prior to the start of the internship).
  • Be a citizen of a Member State of ITU.

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate level of French would be desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse the data of mental health and wellbeing surveys & assessments.
  • Conduct substantive research and analysis on matters related to mental health and workplace wellbeing.
  • Gather and orderly archive data and research for practical implementation.
  • Contribute to the development of e-learning playlists for ITU staff related to wellbeing and mental health topics.
  • Support in policy background review and compiling policies from other UN and other entities, ensuring they align with best practices.
  • Contribute to the design and organization of training programs on mental health and wellbeing to enhance the capabilities of the workforce.
  • Support in evaluating training program effectiveness and gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
