About The Position

This job provides legal support to general counsel and other legal department attorneys and provides legal advice and counsel to internal clients on a variety of matters related to a large healthcare system and medical/clinical environment, including legal, risk, healthcare, and regulatory matters. There is an opportunity for remote work for exceptional applicants outside the Greater New Orleans region but hybrid/on-site is preferred. Requirements

  • Juris doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • None (Work Experience Required).
  • Current admission to practice law in the state of practice or active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and ability and commitment to obtain bar membership within time frame approved by general counsel.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the organization.
  • Ability to be a motivated self-starter and manage multiple projects in a fast - paced environment.
  • Ability to be flexible with regard to varied assignments and willingness to develop new areas of expertise.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., more than 8 hours a day) on occasion.
  • Ability to analyze contracts, identify legal issues, and escalate risks appropriately.
  • Demonstrated skill in collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and departments, including the supervising attorney, other teams in the legal department, non-legal business units, outside counsel, and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of legal experience in transactional matters, healthcare, technology, and/or data privacy and governance.
  • Experience reviewing or drafting commercial agreements, including IT, software, services, or vendor contracts.
  • Prior exposure to healthcare, life sciences, data privacy, or regulated industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers legal services to the organization's internal clients as a member of the legal department.
  • Provides legal transactional support to include drafting, negotiating, and contract reviews.
  • Performs legal research and training and provides general corporate legal support as assigned.
  • Negotiate software-as-a-service contracts, statements of work, amendments, master services agreements, software licensing contracts, IT services arrangements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, business associate agreements, and data sharing arrangements, among others.
  • Identifies and guards against legal risks.
  • Interacts with and directs outside counsel and administrative staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
