About The Position

The Staff Clinician, Inpatient role is part of the Inpatient Clinician Services (Adults) department. This position operates Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. The clinician is responsible for delivering services in full compliance with The Menninger Clinic (TMC) standards, program/unit requirements, and accrediting agencies. This includes maintaining professional licenses and certifications, completing annual education, and adhering to documentation and billing requirements for accrediting and reimbursement entities. The role requires a strong understanding of psychopathology, personality theory, psychodynamics, and other relevant therapeutic techniques. Key functions include conducting psychosocial assessments, developing differential diagnoses and diagnostic formulations, providing family and group psychotherapy, individual psychotherapy, and discharge/aftercare planning. The clinician will also supervise and mentor staff and trainees, and engage in ongoing professional development. Collaboration within multidisciplinary teams is essential for comprehensive assessment and treatment, including providing feedback, psycho-education, and support to the patient system and facilitating continuity of care with external providers. The role demands analytical and innovative thinking, sound decision-making, and the ability to generate new solutions. Interpersonally, the clinician must inspire trust, demonstrate consistency, and encourage a high-integrity environment, modeling ethical behavior. Proficiency in current technology for documentation, including EHR systems, is required.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited master’s degree program in a mental health discipline such as social work, counseling or marriage and family therapy is required.
  • LCSW, LPC or LMFT in the state of Texas is required.
  • At least 2 years post-master’s clinical experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health field.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver services in full compliance with The Menninger Clinic (TMC), individual programs or units, and all accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain professional license and certifications including completion of all annual education and training requirements.
  • Complete comprehensive documentation and billing as required by accrediting and re-imbursement entities in a timely fashion and adhering to all formal and informal deadlines.
  • Perform in a manner congruent with best practices demonstrating knowledge of psychopathology, personality theory, psychodynamics and other techniques and modalities as necessary.
  • Conduct Psychosocial Assessments.
  • Develop Differential Diagnoses and Diagnostic Formulations.
  • Provide Family Work / Family or Couples Therapy.
  • Provide Group Psychotherapy.
  • Provide Individual Psychotherapy.
  • Develop Discharge and Aftercare Planning.
  • Supervise and mentor staff and trainees in a professional and effective manner.

  • Contribute to the integrated multidisciplinary teams, comprehensive assessment and treatment.
