Responsible for delivering a person-centered ministry of spiritual care, support, and sacraments for patients, families, physicians, and hospital personnel. This role involves providing spiritual care services, facilitating sacramental ministries, responding to emergencies, and offering support to hospital personnel during difficult times. The chaplain also assists families with patient care needs, advance directives, and identifies complex ethical issues. Collaboration with senior staff chaplains and participation in patient care planning are key aspects. The role also includes contributing to the Mission and Spiritual Care department's integrated services, such as providing site coverage, working shifts for 24-hour coverage, conducting services, serving on committees, and submitting reports. The chaplain is expected to support the Advocate Mission, Values, and Philosophy, interpret these to others, and support community clergy. Maintaining good standing and ecclesiastical endorsement is also a requirement.
