About The Position

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a full time Staff Chaplain who, under the supervision of the Director of Spiritual Care and Mission, will provide ministry in a healthcare setting to patients, families, and staff. The Chaplain will offer a safe, non-judgmental space, actively listening and affirming as individuals share their stories. The role involves helping them discover God's presence and integrate spiritual and emotional issues arising from their health crisis. Additionally, the Chaplain will contribute to education and leadership, nurturing the organization's spiritual core and embodying its mission and values. This includes recognizing needs that support a holistic approach to healing the body, mind, and spirit.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in theology, divinity, religious, pastoral ministry, or spirituality.
• Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by ACPE.
• Ecclesiastical Endorsement.
• Certified or eligible for certification within two (2) years of hire date.
• One (1) year clinical training usually through CPE.
• Evidence of a good pastoral identity.
• Evidence of being in touch with their own feelings about sickness, aging, and dying.
• Evidence of an ability to minister to the patient's feelings, especially strong "negative" feelings, i.e. anger, resentment.
• Evidence of an ability to work and cooperate with other professional people.
• Evidence of an ability to deal with others in a non-judgmental and confidential manner.
• Possess a lively faith.
