Staff Cellular Modem Validation Engineer
About The Position
This individual leads, plans, synthesizes ambiguous or conflicting requirements and performs the complex responsibility of the designing, standardizing, implementing, validating and executing complex test methodologies for commercializing the Cellular (or Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN)) modem as a product or component within a product. Applies expertise in 3GPP WWAN specifications (most notably with LTE and 5GNR), performs end-to-end performance/functional analysis of advanced multi-RAT (Radio Access Technology) cellular modems and optimizes system performance based on analysis of data from lab and/or live networks. Analyzes and integrates complex information from diverse sources including internal intraoperability teams and external partners in the mobile technology industry to drive well informed decisions, resolve ambiguous technical challenges, and deliver high quality outcomes aligned with organizational goals and ethical standards. Leverages 5G mmWave and Sub6 technical expertise and cross functional collaboration with internal teams and external test equipment vendors to develop innovative test and automation solutions, manage complex projects, and demonstrate technological breakthroughs through impactful internal and external industry demos. Works closely with the other functional groups including modem systems, modem software, modem hardware and modem firmware to characterize, certify and commercialize a cost effective, high capability, high performance modem that meets industry leading quality metrics and customer requirements. Applies industry leading Machine Learning and Generative AI techniques for daily tasks and test automation enhancements. Provides technical and people leadership by coaching others, fostering continuous learning and improvement, encouraging alternative viewpoints to challenge established practices, and aligning individual and team growth with broader departmental and business objectives. Acts as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings and communicates and implements a development plan.
Requirements
- Expertise in 3GPP WWAN specifications (most notably with LTE and 5GNR)
- Experience with 5G mmWave and Sub6 technical expertise
- Experience with cross functional collaboration with internal teams and external test equipment vendors
- Experience working closely with modem systems, modem software, modem hardware and modem firmware
- Experience applying Machine Learning and Generative AI techniques for daily tasks and test automation enhancements
- Experience providing technical and people leadership by coaching others, fostering continuous learning and improvement, encouraging alternative viewpoints to challenge established practices, and aligning individual and team growth with broader departmental and business objectives.
- Experience acting as a strong contributor at design reviews and project meetings and communicating and implementing a development plan.
