The Los Angeles County Department of Homeless Services and Housing (HSH) consolidates the countywide response to homelessness, focusing on increasing accountability and transparency, improving care for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and streamlining collaboration with partners. The Homeless Prevention Unit (HPU) is a collaborative effort between HSH, California Policy Lab (CPL), and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) that proactively identifies individuals at risk of homelessness using predictive analytics and provides early interventions. The HPU is expanding to serve young adults aged 18-24. The Staff Assistant I (Budget Specialist) will report to the Budget Program Manager and assist with processing and tracking financial assistance for program participants. This role involves reviewing sensitive documents, troubleshooting financial requests with case managers, and liaising with partner organizations like Brilliant Corners for direct payments. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, problem solver, and analytical thinker, organized, and experienced with client-centric databases and Excel reporting.
