Staff Analog Design Engineer

Analog Devices•Durham, NC

About The Position

As a Staff Analog Design Engineer at Analog Devices, you will lead the design and development of complex analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, working with significant latitude to solve challenging technical problems. You will provide technical leadership on critical projects, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor less experienced engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role combines deep technical expertise with broader business understanding to drive innovation and support successful product delivery across multiple applications and markets. The position involves designing and developing analog and mixed-signal ICs such as sensor interfaces, data converters, multiplexers, active and passive filters, and power distribution systems. You will contribute to architecture development, perform transistor-level and block-level design and simulation, and help ensure performance across process, voltage, and temperature variations. You will also collaborate across engineering and product teams, mentor junior engineers, support project proposals and planning, and contribute new methods and architectural approaches to complex design challenges. The position requires 10% travel and is a first-shift/day-shift role. Applicants may be subject to export licensing review if the work requires access to technical data, subject to the stated exceptions.

Requirements

  • Expert-level ability to design and analyze complex analog circuits, including amplifiers, filters, and data converters, optimize designs for specific applications, and lead architectural decisions.
  • Advanced expertise in designing and integrating analog and digital circuits in complex mixed-signal environments, including signal integrity, noise mitigation, and power optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop circuit architectures that balance performance requirements with implementation constraints and business objectives.
  • Advanced proficiency with simulation tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and Cadence Design Suite to validate designs across conditions and lead statistical validation efforts.
  • Deep understanding of physical IC layout considerations and experience optimizing layouts for performance, including guiding layout engineers on critical aspects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CMOS circuit design principles and integrated-circuit implementation techniques, including architectural tradeoffs.
  • Expert-level knowledge of ADC and DAC design principles, performance optimization, and innovative architectures.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in analog circuit design.
