About The Position

The Staff Accountant is a key member of the accounting team working with the Controller and other members of the accounting and finance team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for helping to maintain accurate accounting records, reporting of financial results, the audit, reconciliation of financial records and the support of the company’s tax related processes and activities. This position will be involved in preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, account and bank reconciliations, assisting with monthly closings, account analysis and supporting the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the accounting department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • PC proficiency using ERP systems, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook and financial reporting writing software
  • Strong analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit sales and use tax filings
  • Bank reconciliations for various store cash accounts
  • Compile monthly inventory data and book related journal entries
  • Preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly and annual close schedules
  • Assist with analyzing financial statements and reconciliations on a monthly basis and reporting on key variances
  • Assist Accounts Payable with processing invoices for multiple entities
  • Assist with business license and health permit renewals
  • Logging and tracking real estate and personal property invoices
  • Preparing deposits to bring to the bank
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts
  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes
  • Protects organization’s values by keeping information confidential
  • Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information, calculations and makes or directs correcting entries
  • Assist with preparation of the tax and audit processes
