About The Position

Boston Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This is a hands-on position offering broad exposure across accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, budgeting, and forecasting. Working closely with the Controller and partnering with project managers and employees across the organization, you will have the opportunity to understand the business beyond the numbers, investigate financial trends and variances, and contribute to accurate reporting and informed business decisions. This is an ideal opportunity for an accountant who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and wants to be a valued business partner rather than simply process transactions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s in Business, Accounting, Finance preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • This role is restricted to US persons (i.e., US citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor project accounting costs, investigate variances, and identify discrepancies
  • Prepare, reconcile, and review monthly and year-end accounting transactions
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities and provide financial analysis
  • Manage the expense reporting process and fixed assets
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including collections
  • Research financial variances and discrepancies and work with internal stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization to support accurate and timely financial information
  • Perform other accounting and financial analysis responsibilities as needed
