About The Position

Benchmark Insurance Group is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and technology-driven Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a rapidly growing insurance brokerage, MGA, and risk management firm specializing in real estate, construction, hospitality, and commercial insurance. The ideal candidate is not simply an accountant but a business-minded financial professional who enjoys building processes, improving systems, and creating financial visibility for leadership. This role will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, agency bill reconciliations, commission accounting, carrier payables, accounts receivable management, trust accounting support, financial reporting, and KPI tracking. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in helping Benchmark improve operational efficiency, cash flow management, profitability analysis, and financial controls. Financial transparency, commission reconciliation, trust accounting, and monthly reporting have been identified as strategic priorities for the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-7 years accounting experience
  • Experience with accounts receivable and collections
  • Experience with financial reporting and reconciliations
  • QuickBooks

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Review and reconcile bank accounts and credit card transactions
  • Assist in annual tax preparation and audits
  • Reconcile agency bill transactions
  • Reconcile trust accounts monthly
  • Monitor carrier payables and receivables
  • Ensure compliance with Texas insurance trust accounting requirements
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies
  • Monitor customer aged receivables
  • Identify delinquent accounts
  • Coordinate collections efforts with Account Managers
  • Produce monthly AR reports
  • Assist leadership in reducing bad debt exposure
  • Calculate and reconcile broker commissions
  • Reconcile carrier commission statements
  • Prepare monthly producer commission reports
  • Validate commission calculations against agency agreements
