About The Position

Staff Accountants are part of the accounting team, supporting client relationships and providing basic audit, bookkeeping, and tax preparation services. The role offers opportunities to work across public accounting and develop a focus in audit, bookkeeping, and/or tax.

The position is fully onsite at an MBE office for candidates who do not meet the stated experience condition for hybrid or remote work. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with flexibility around personal and family commitments. During tax season, workweeks may reach 50–60 hours; during the rest of the year, workweeks are generally 30–40 hours. Hybrid and remote work are available to candidates with at least three years of experience in a similar role at a CPA firm.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• At least 2 years of experience in public accounting or a CPA firm environment.
• Ability to work fully onsite at one of the firm's offices, unless eligible for the stated hybrid or remote arrangement.
• Willingness to be cross-trained to support tax, audit, and bookkeeping needs.

Nice To Haves

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role at a CPA firm to be eligible for hybrid or remote work.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-charge bookkeeping services to multiple clients using QuickBooks.
• Prepare payroll, tax, and business records and reports.
• Prepare corporate and individual tax returns.
• Assist with analyzing client financial records to identify potential accounting and auditing issues.
• Be cross-trained to support clients' tax, audit, and bookkeeping needs.
