The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various daily, monthly, and annual accounting duties, supporting the Finance & Accounting team, maintaining internal controls, and assisting with month-end close, fixed assets, auto loans, sales and use taxes, and year-end audit processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum two years of accounting experience.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office with intermediate-level Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting concepts with emphasis on general ledger.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively with team members and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail.
  • High degree of integrity when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work at our Lakewood office 2-3 days per week minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, pay, and review all accounts payable invoices and expense reports for accuracy and proper expense coding.
  • Reconcile Bank Accounts.
  • Support the Company in maintaining internal controls and safeguarding of assets.
  • Support the Finance & Accounting team with other accounting duties as needed.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager and Controller with month-end close activities, including preparation of accounting journal entries, account analysis, preparation of schedules for various expenses, and preparation of account reconciliations.
  • Manage fixed asset, including monthly journal entries and roll forward.
  • Manage auto loans, including payments and account reconciliation.
  • Calculate, file and remit sales and use taxes (5 states).
  • Prepare and review annual 1099’s.
  • Assisting with the year-end audit process.
  • Assist with annual business and tax licensing and registration when necessary.
  • Participate in projects and miscellaneous responsibilities such as collaborating on specific month-end closing items, providing backup coverage for the team, and assisting with audits.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with other members of the organization across departments, divisions, and locations.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, compassion, and respect toward others; functions as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from all colleagues.
