About The Position

The Staff Accountant works alongside the Controller to deliver financial integrity for Life Science Outsourcing (LSO), a medical device contract manufacturer operating under FDA regulations and ISO 13485 standards. This role is ideal for someone with disciplined close experience, sharp analytical instincts, and an interest in using AI and automation to improve accounting processes. The position involves safeguarding the general ledger, driving the month-end close, and serving as an analytical partner to business leaders.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger ownership and month-end close.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, including AP, AR, invoice reconciliation, and cost accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency across Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with an ERP or accounting system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Detail-oriented with an uncompromising commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
  • An analytical problem solver who digs into discrepancies rather than working around them.
  • Organized and dependable under close deadlines, when precision matters most.
  • Genuinely interested in applying AI and automation tools to streamline repetitive accounting work, with either hands-on experience or a strong desire to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Deacom experience is a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 820 or ISO 13485 regulated operations.
  • Certificate in Accounting or Bookkeeping.
  • Hands-on experience using AI or automation tools (AI assistants, scripting, or ERP workflow automation) to reduce manual, repetitive work.

Responsibilities

  • Drive an accurate and timely month-end close, including review and analysis of all profit and loss and balance sheet transactions.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies.
  • Partner with business leaders to communicate and publish financial results and key performance indicators.
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls across accounting processes.
  • Support quarterly and year-end audits, plus any internal or external audits.
  • Complete tax filings including Sales and Use and Property tax forms.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations across LSO entities.
  • Provide oversight and serve as backup for accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Review accrued liabilities and expenses for completeness and accuracy.
  • Resolve cash and credit card issues in coordination with the finance team.
  • Support the finance management team and executives with analyses and ad hoc projects.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly audit committee presentations.
  • Maintain organized historical records and supporting documentation.
  • Identify repetitive, manual accounting tasks and apply AI and automation tools to streamline them.
  • Help the finance team modernize how the close, reconciliations, and reporting get done.
